Aireys Inlet is a town of stunning natural beauty much like most of Great Ocean Road. Home of the famous Split Point Lighthouse the town is completely landlocked by the Great Otway National Park. The town has a permanent population of about 1200 but as it is a much loved holiday destination for Melbournians this swells to an estimated 5000 at the peak Christmas period. It has an underdeveloped feel which differentiates it from its neighbouring towns and is probably its most loved aspect. The sandstone cliffs punctuated by sandy coves provide stunning backdrops for any photos and the area is popular with surfers fisherman and bushwalkers. Located about 90 minutes from the Melbourne CBD the town is easily accessed via the recently completed Geelong Ring Road. There is one more stage to complete which will eliminate all traffic lights between Aireys Inlet and Melbourne.

The popular holiday destination of Anglesea is one of the larger coastal towns in the Surfcoast Shire and has much to offer both visitors and residents. Several beautiful beaches a thriving retail precinct a picturesque river and a high quality 18 hole golf course and some of the main attractions of Anglesea. The town has approximately 2300 permanent residents and is very popular with retirees. The holiday population can swell to three times this figure and many of the houses in the town are holiday houses for Melbournians. The Anglesea Surf Life Saving Club patrols both the main surf beach and Point Roadknight beach in the warmer months. Point Roadknight is an extremely popular family beach and the right hand point break is very popular with surfers. It is regarded as one of the best learning waves in Australia for beginners. The golf club is also very popular year round and hosts weekly competitions for its membership. The town also has a football club and cricket club that enjoy excellent facilities on the outskirts of town. Access from Melbourne is very easy via the Geelong Ring Road and this is expected to generate significant commercial activity in the town in the foreseeable future.

Steeped in history Cape Otway has stories going way beyond the relatively new Cape Otway lighthouse which was built and commissioned in 1848. The Katabanut tribe walked this land for many thousands of years as well as the dinosaurs and both have left their mark on the landscape. Middens can be found if you look carefully as well as countless unique wildlife. Cape Otway is perfect for the naturalist and you can find yourself beachcombing or bushwalking for years with still more to discover.

Eastern View is regarded as part of the Aireys Inlet area. It is a small strip of properties that are set opposite the beach and are land locked by the Great Otway National Park. The properties are some of the most expensive in the area and are tightly held. The views available from each property are stunning and mostly uninterrupted. To be able to walk straight across the road and onto the beach is also well regarded. The famous arch over the Great Ocean Road is located at Eastern View and is a popular stop for tourists on the way down the coast. It is about 90 minutes from the Melbourne CBD.

Fairhaven is separated from Aireys Inlet by Painkalac Creek and both are considered to be part of the same town. Geographically Fairhaven is a series of hills that front onto the majestic Fairhaven beach and is surrounded by the Great Otway National Park at the rear. It is a popular holiday destination and the majority of houses in Fairhaven are used for this purpose. As it is a series of hills most of the properties enjoy some sort of scenic outlook whether it is ocean or native bush. The Fairhaven Surf Life Saving Club is very popular and the beach is patrolled by both Lifeguards and volunteer life savers in the warmer months. Being 90 minutes from the Melbourne CBD the area is easily accessed via the Geelong Ring Road. Marengo has the unique claim with properties located on the ocean side of the Great Ocean Road. Wherever you are in Marengo you are not far from the beach. The Marengo Reef Sanctuary ensures the wild life is undisturbed and there is plenty of that. On any given day you can watch the seals basking in the sun on the outer reef they call a ‘holiday home'. The reef is a haul out where seals come to take rest from the hustle and bustle of busy seal colony life. Sounds like they have got the right idea! Situated only 2.5 kms from the township of Apollo Bay Marengo is both quiet and exclusive. There is a long sweeping ‘dog friendly' beach and plenty of rock pools to ramble or ledges to fish from. If surfing or boogy boarding is your thing then you are spoilt for choice most of the year. Not only does Marengo have a marine reserve it has a flora and fauna reserve as well. The area to the rear of Marengo is set aside so you can enjoy the peaceful setting of the natural surrounds without interference of cars or trail bikes.

Moggs Creek is a very small hamlet and is regarded as part of Aireys Inlet and Fairhaven. It is a mid point on the 8km sandy beach that runs from Aireys Inlet to Eastern View. It has a very underdeveloped holiday feel with large allotments and a green natural bush environment. The people who frequent Moggs Creek are known for their love of the area and if they decide to trade houses will only consider that area. Many of the properties have been in the same family for generations and on average there are only 3-4 house sales in a year. The minimum lot size was recently upgraded to 4000sqm removing any chance of further subdivision which is supported by most property owners.

Wye River is quickly becoming the place to be and to own that magical secluded holiday retreat and it's not hard to see wye. With the Otway National Park as a backdrop and the magnificent beach and raw ocean swell as centre stage there is quite seriously no where you would rather be. The Wye River Pub the Rookery Nook is perched on the sunny side of the hill with glorious views of the main beach. The surf life saving club is active and run a great nipper program for the kids all summer.
